I know you're all on the edge of your seat, curious, wondering, anxious...it's all good. Whew!!! In fact, my eyes welled up reading it. How can it be that Kindergarten is over already? When did this baby of mine get so big?! Sigh...
WARNING: The rest of this post is going to a proud mommy gushing about her girl. Can't help it; gotta do it!
So, back to the report card. She's always preferred the English side of school. It's MUCH easier to figure out what they're saying! And, at her school, most of the curriculum is packed into the French side, so the English part is pretty much a lot of fun stuff. And, Miss Jocelynne ALWAYS has great, fun activities for the kids to do.
I'll share a few of the comments as long as you don't tell Butch! He hasn't read her report card yet!
"Katie is a sweet, kind student with many friends. Her attitude and conduct make her a positive role model for the entire class. I love to see Katie offer positive feedback to her classmates."
She got a "P" in the controls emotions category, meaning this skill is in progress. "Small incidents still have a big impact on Katie when she thinks she is responsible for the mishap. We encourage her to put things in perspective." (She's always relished the drama, so I'm not sure this is EVER going to happen!)
"How nice to see Katie's sense of humor and confidence come through! Her comprehension skills are very good and she only speaks French during French class. She spoke clearly and loudly during her Spring cahier presentation." Katie started the year very shy with her French teacher and would speak just above a whisper while she looked at the ground, so this is quite a big difference! In fact, Katie will make jokes with the French teacher and will even let Miss Valerie tease her.
"Katie is a serious student who works independently, takes initiative and socialized nicely. She is a happy student who shows enthusiasm for class."
And, probably my favorite part of the report card...
"It's always a pleasure to find girls with a love of math, especially at an early age, like Katie. She loves our math games and our science activities. She was very interested in the plant and animal activities (water garden, butterflies). She is a concrete learner with a sound grasp of math concepts. She especially enjoyed the Leprechaun trap and egg drop device projects."
Doesn't that part about math and science just make your heart melt? I know...mine too! Katie's class created a water garden at the school. Her Daddy cleared the brush for it - she's SO proud and tells EVERYBODY that it was her Daddy that got the spot ready for the garden! They learned about the water cycle, including a song, "The Water Cycle Boogie." If I can get her to sing it on tape, I'll post it for you all. That way, it can get stuck in your brain too!

that's my girl! Well done Katie, but then again, with a name like that how could you do anything other than brilliantly (and over sensitively, and maybe slightly melodramatically ;-) ;-))
