We decided to go fishing today. The first outing of the year (and still on our 2008-2009 licenses). Plus, it's Spring and we thought it would be a nice birthday treat for Butch.
We knew it would be cold, we were expecting it to be cold - and it was cold. Luckily Butch brought EVERY coat he owns and had the foresight to also bring handwarmers. We bundled Katie up in two long sleeve shirts, her raincoat (with a hood), her life jacket (new for this year) and Butch's wind-stopper polar fleece jacket.

Oh and she had a hand-warmer in there somewhere. Must have worked cuz the little bug managed to take a nap while we were out there!

Those darn fish skunked us again. All we caught was a big slimy lilypad and several handfuls of milfoil. Ick!

I guess we're not really fisher-folks but rather boat coasters since we never catch much. We did use our imagination to discover a few fun things. I never realized that Lake Sammamish had a pirate ship. But there it was towering nearby the boat docks. Those crafty pirates did a good job disguising their ship as a tug and barge combo so you have to have a trained eye to catch this one!

And, heres the ghost ship of Lake Sammamish. I like to also call it the sunken police boat, but truth be told, I think it's neither! It is a terribly funny sight at any rate!

This, the child that won't sleep for you, takes a nap on a BOAT? No way, no how would my little ones sleep in the canoe!
