Daycare, Gymanstics and Swim Lessons - Oh My!

So Friday is Katie's last day at her daycare. To conserve money, we've decided to cut out that expense right now - especially since B has some extra time on his hands. It's been tough for us cuz we've made a lot of friends and K has two special friends that she's spent her weekdays with for over 2 years now. Hopefully we can stay in touch with them cuz they're are really neat girls. But, to compensate for the loss of 'peer group' interaction we've enrolled her in gymnastics (which has always seemed to mesmerize her) and swim lessons that we feel are prudent with all the boating we do in the summertime. They're both also good indoor activities for our long wet winters and K can really pump off a lot of energy doing both in a very short period of time. So a couple of pictures from her second day of gymnastics. It was very funny and cute and oh so Katiebug. They are working on their holiday program and the class does a routine to the song "Run Run Reindeer". Miss Roberta was going through the routine and seven of the eight kids were mimicking her perfectly and there stood Katiebug, unconvinced, wondering what this had to do with gymnastics. She even got a little irritated when the other girls hopped over to her carpet square (fortunately she didn't shove them though). After the third run-through, they added the music. First it was too loud for her, but she got used to it. Then, as the other girls are obediently following the teacher through the routine, hopping sideways, hopping back, somersault forward, jump and wave....Katie starts to dance her little butt off to her own little boogie tune. I laughed so hard I had tears (and one of the teacher's helper was laughing pretty hard too). And all I could think in that moment was, "That's my girl!"

Some of you may know that K's FAVORITE color is purple. Pink is a distant second favorite, so of course her leotard (we call it the 'tard) is...purple and pink. It's the smallest size they make and it's still too big for our little monkey! Hopefully she'll end up having her daddy's build.

She looks like she's enjoying her activities! You've got to get some little video clips. I need to see that cute little personality in live time!
